Gena Inglis Nix graduated from Jacksonville State University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Music Education in 2000. She is going into her seventh year as a band director. Previous years teaching include J.B. Pennington High School in Blountsville, AL and North Whitfield Middle School in Dalton, Ga. She is entering her fifth year teaching at Gaston School. At these schools, her bands have received superior ratings in marching and concert festivals and competitions. She is a member of the Music Educators National Convention, Alabama Bandmasters Association, Alabama Educators Association, and Sigma Alpha Lota (professional women’s music fraternity). In her years at Jacksonville State University, she was on the leadership staff as Drum Major from 1997-1999. She has adjudicated drum majors at marching festivals and has been a clinician for drum majors at high schools in Alabama, Georgia, and Tennessee. Gena and her husband, Jonathan, have a two year old daughter, Taylor Brooke.
